Théâtre d’un Jour

Winner of the Prix Maeterlinck de la Critique 2023 in the “Best Circus Show” category

The show

Reclaim mesmerizes audiences with its fusion of circus and music, reminiscent of the company’s acclaimed previous creation, Strach, A Fear Song, which also won the same award in 2018 and was hosted at the Festival for two consecutive editions.

Drawing inspiration from the American ecofeminist movement and the forgotten rituals of Asia Minor, Reclaim offers an immersive experience that engages all the senses. Set within a small white ring, circus intertwines with opera to create an “imaginary ritual.” A lyric singer, two cellists, a flyer, two acrobats, and three porters transport spectators into a world where words are almost unnecessary, yet the circus itself “carries the voice.”

Based in the Beauraing countryside, Théâtre d’un Jour has transcended national borders, establishing itself as Belgium’s foremost circus company. This year marks its 30th anniversary, a testament to its enduring excellence.

In the press

In just a few minutes, RECLAIM, Patrick Masset’s latest circus creation with Théâtre d’un Jour, has the audience on the edge of their seats… We are alternately gripped, frightened, admiring, enthusiastic, invigorated…
